Dear Supporter,

In these challenging times, the kindness and generosity of GlobalGiving donors shine brighter than ever. Your contributions have not just been donations; they have been transformative gifts that bring clarity and change lives for a lifetime. We recognize the immense impact you have made and extend our deepest gratitude for your continued partnership.

Our project, “New Eyes for Kentucky” continues to impact the lives of Kentucky residents with the simple, yet critical, tool of eyeglasses. As we celebrate 92 years of making a positive difference in the lives of those in financial need, New Eyes remains committed to empowering individuals by providing them with clear vision through the simple, yet critical, tool of eyeglasses.

Since we began our New Eyes for Kentucky project in 2019, we have raised $8,142 from GlobalGiving. That translates into new eyeglasses and improved vision for 354 Kentuckians - 38 children,187 women and 129 men thanks to your help!

We collaborate with over 20 different social service agencies, schools and health advocacy groups across Kentucky to provide their clients, students and patients with new eyeglasses. Just this past year, New Eyes assisted over 940 Kentucky residents at a cost of $22,291. The majority of the people we help are from working poor families while the remainder are adults 65 and older, who are covered by traditional Medicare health insurance which does not pay for eyeglasses for seniors.

The National Institutes of Health state that uncorrected refractive error (difficulty seeing near or far) is responsible for visual impairment in 8.24 million Americans who do not have eyeglasses due to cost and access. That number is expected to double by 2050. No doubt New Eyes has more work to do in the coming years. We will count on partners like GlobalGiving so that those in need get the tool to independence, success, confidence and so much more – the tool of eyeglasses!

With deep gratitude,

Jean Gajano, Executive Director
