Dear New Eyes Supporter,
Thank you for your donation to "New Eyes for Kentucky" project! You made deep impacts in the lives of financially struggling Kentuckians with your gift of new eyeglasses and clear vision.
Since June, New Eyes has provided 413 Kentuckians with new eyeglasses, a 60% increase since our last reporting period, reflecting the better access Kentuckians have had to eye exams and social service agencies as the pandemic recedes. We assisted 10 children, 239 women and 164 men, ranging in ages from 5 to 96 years old. GlobalGiving donors enabled 5 of these individuals to get the clear vision necessary to improve their lives.
Kentucky continues to be among New Eyes' largest state clients for new eyeglasses. Kentucky's Medicaid program does not cover the cost of eyeglasses, and 72% of Kentucky seniors are enrolled in traditional Medicare. Both of these programs do not cover eyeglasses. Children's eyeglasses are covered under Kentucky Medicaid, but if they break or lose their glasses, it is difficult to obtain a replacement pair. New Eyes fills that gap for children, providing two pairs of eyeglasses to each child so they never have a day without clear vision.
Thank you again for your donation to New Eyes. Together we are changing lives with the simple, yet critical, tool of eyeglasses. Clear vision matters - and we are grateful you believe in our mission to bring clear vision to those in need!
Warmest regards,
Jean Gajano
