Neema plays a transformative role in the lives of the young women we welcome, but our impact extends beyond them—we are committed to supporting their families as well. Many of our students come from households struggling with food insecurity, domestic violence, and deep emotional distress. Recognizing the urgent need for mental health support in these vulnerable families, we have expanded our outreach efforts through home visits and Guardians’ Days, providing much-needed emotional and spiritual support.
In 2024, we launched monthly counseling workshops for our students’ guardians, held on the first Friday of each month. Led by our dedicated team of counselors, these sessions address critical topics such as positive parenting, the effects of domestic abuse on children, and ways to foster healthier family relationships. More than just a learning opportunity, these workshops create a safe space for guardians to share their struggles, find encouragement, and build a support network.
"In terms of attending the guardian meetings, I have been an active attendant and the counseling lessons have helped me build healthy relationships with my family and neighbors. " says one guardian.
The need for mental health support in our community is immense, and we are committed to expanding these efforts. With additional resources, we can reach more families, provide deeper support, and continue empowering communities to heal and thrive.
