The very first Ethno Cambodia has come to an end and it was magnificient!

Thank you very much for your increadible support to make this program for young musicians from Cambodia, the Mekong Region and beyond come to live.

Over the course of one week, 30 young musicians from 10 different countries including Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, Myanmar, India, Taiwan, Japan, France and Sweden have shared tunes and songs from their homes and hearts, culminating in two energetic one-hour concerts. One took place in Preah Dak commune, about one hour away from Siem Reap, where about 600 people witnessed the concert by Ethno Cambodia and local drumming outfit Medha. One day later, Cambodian Living Arts' Heritage Hub at Wat Bo in Siem Reap hosted the final concert, which finished with a dancing crowd of aroun 200 people loudly demanding a total of five encores - what at evening of music, dance cultural diversity and celebration!

In addition to these wonderful experiences, the participants also learned about each other's instruments, techniques, skills and music cultures and got to know each other on a deeply personal level. Friendships across Asia and plans for future collaborations and exchange were made.

Cambodian Living Arts is now looking forward to REPfest, our new traditional music festival, that will take place in September 2019 in Siem Reap to celebrate creativity and heritage in the Mekong region and beyond. We are hopeful that the many new connections made during Ethno Cambodia will translate into great new opportunities for REPfest, our Heritage Hub and the wider music scene in Cambodia and the region.

Thank you very much for your support. Please follow preparations for REPfest here: www.cambodianlivingarts.org/repfest
