Since the last quarter of 2017, Dumaguete served as host for beach sports competitions such as beach volleyball and handball, the first time it was held in the Philippines. The First Asian Beach Handball Championship involved 70 athletes from Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines.
Spectators from all over the country flocked to Dumaguete - now named as sports capital since it has been hosting sports events since the new administration took over.
Aside from being a university town and a center of arts and culture, Dumaguete is now embracing an added feature as sports capital of the Philppines due to its strategic location being at the center of the archipelago.
The international handball games and the beach volleyball was held at the shoreline of the Rizal Boulevard and the playing court was situated 50 meters away from the location of the Comfort Lounge.
Due to the proximity, the Comfort Lounge was able to assist the players and the spectators as well who would want to avail of a comfort room near the venue. For a week or two, the comfort lounge has been providing services to the general public at the hosting of the sports events.
There are two important points for the availability of the comfort lounge, first is easy access to a comfort room and second, for environmental conservation in order to get rid of people polluting the shoreline with human wastes.
