At the start of dry season often referred by many as summer season in the Philippines, foreign and local tourist begin to flock here in Dumaguete City.
The city has been tagged as a gateway to several tourist destinations and was named as one of the most livable cities in the world by Forbes Magazine.
On the other hand, the kilometer and a half long Rizal Boulevard is one of the most visited sites in the city as it provides a beautiful view of the sunrise and the sunset fronting the bountiful Tañon Strait.
Locals hold several activities in this place such as Zumba sessions, walking, jogging and for some, strolling just to get a glimpse of the scenic view it offers.
But due to the influx of tourists, the city needs more facilities in order to accommodate the immediate needs of tourists and locals while they are in the Rizal Boulevard.
The comfort lounge, since its opening, has been helpful in maintaining the cleanliness of the place. This is one of the answers of the rising problem on the foul odor of the sea due to people who use the beachside for urination and worst, defecation.
At first, the people perceived of the facility for other functions other than a comfort room due to its unique and captivating design. The design has given them a new perspective that a comfort lounge can look elegant and not become an eyesore for a tourist destination such as the Rizal Boulevard.
