Foundation University officially turned over the People’s Comfort Lounge to the City of Dumaguete, through a formal ceremony.
The University and the local government of Dumaguete City signed the Deed of Turnover of the Comfort Lounge which will cater to the needs of the community.
Located at the south end of Rizal Boulevard and fronting the Dumaguete Press Club, the People’s Comfort Lounge is the fifth Estudio Damgo project which involves the University’s architecture prpgram and its students.
The comfort lounge is a restroom facility that utilizes local and native material resources such as bamboo. One important feature of this project is the unique way of dealing with sewage problems through multi-tiered stage gardens while developing that specific area of the boulevard into a potential tourist destination.
Now on its fifth year, Estudio Damgo is the first Filipino design build program involving the architecture students.
Prior projects of Estudio Damgo were namely: Multipurpose Classroom in Dungao, Valencia, Multipurpose Barangay Hall in Habitat, Bajumpandan, the floating marine sanctuary in Bantayan which was swept by the strong typhoon in December 2015, and the Tourist Information Center at the Dumaguete Port Area.
