School holidays can be a high-risk time for girls, with increased threats of FGM and child marriage. Thanks to your support, Last Mile4D helped keep girls safe while empowering communities to protect children's rights through education, Alternative Rites of Passage (ARP), community dialogue, and tree planting.
2026 Highlights
What We Did
A Safer Path for Girls
This year, 2,470 girls completed our Alternative Rites of Passage program, celebrating their transition into adulthood without FGM. Families, teachers, elders, and local leaders joined the celebrations, showing that cultural traditions can be honored without harming girls.
At the same time, 378 boys took part in sessions promoting respect, equality, and positive masculinity.
Growing Hope
Each graduation ended with tree planting. Girls, boys, teachers, and community members planted trees as a symbol of growth, hope, and a brighter future while helping create greener school environments.
Communities Taking Action
We held 21 community dialogue meetings, bringing together parents, elders, religious leaders, teachers, youth, women, and local officials to discuss ending FGM and child marriage, keeping girls in school, strengthening child protection, and promoting positive parenting. These conversations continue to build local commitment to protecting children.
The Difference You Made
Your support helped:
Looking Ahead
We are committed to reaching more schools, engaging more communities, and ensuring more girls grow up safe, educated, and free from harmful practices.
Thank you for making this work possible. Together, we are helping build safer futures for girls and stronger communities across Kenya.
And as we are gearing to celebrate each girl’s safety and strength at the conclusion of year long program, we promote an alternative rite of passage by planting trees in honor of girls that have not been cut and have said NO to FGM.
generations to come.
On behalf of our entire team—and the girls dreaming of safer, healthier futures—thank you for standing with us.
