The Kisumu Youth Football Association’s (KYFA) 2013 season continues and Manyatta United, the club name for the teams supported by the Manytta Youth Resource Centre (MYRC) and Equip Manyatta, continue to top the tables in almost all categories. Manyatta United Under-12 is in first place having won all seven games they have played. The story is the same for both the Under-14 and Under-16 teams each having won all of their games played so far at 6 and 7 wins respectively. The Manyatta United Under-18 team sits third on the table with 5 wins, 2 loses and 2 draws.
The Manyatta United Under-15 girl’s team has also left a strong impression on ladies football in Kisumu, coming in the fourth position in a nationwide tournament sponsored by KYFA. This was the first major competition the Manyatta United ladies team has ever entered and the first time they had faced competition from all over the country. Manyatta United was beaten 1-0 by Soccer Queens FC from Nairobi in the semi-finals.
Seven Manyatta United Under-14 players were also selected to travel to Nairobi to represent Kisumu teams there in the National Copa Coca-Cola Finals. You can follow Manyatta United’s progress by visiting the MYRC’s Facebook page at:

The performing arts members are still eagerly waiting for Kisumu’s 2013 Vybez Awards where Kisumu’s top artists, dancers, and producers come together to crown the year’s greatest with performances and awards. MYRC members have been nominated for best producer, best female artist, best collaboration, best hip-hop artist, best solo song and also best dance group. Until then, members continue to campaign across the county for votes and to popularize their art.
With all of the continuous action, the MYRC continues to face financial burdens and limitations on their programs. The constant traveling of our many soccer teams and performing artists and continually paying fees for tournaments or competitions add up to major financial costs. The MYRC would also like to be able to pay its volunteers a livable wage, but unless we receive major financial support, our workers will have to continue to carry a lot on their shoulders.
