Building Up Girls in 2013 with Edge of Seven

We are hard at work this year at Edge of Seven on several infrastructure projects to benefit access to education for girls and women in the developing world.

First up, we'll be building a Community and Education Center for Women in the Dhading District of Nepal this May, using the sustainable and earthquake-resistant earthbag construction method. This Center will provide women who are victims of abuse and sex trafficking with a safe place to come together as a community and receive vocational trainings and health services. The Center will include classrooms, workshop space, a health post, and a daycare center for children.

Next, in June we'll be working on a secondary school campus expansion in the Mt. Meru Region of Tanzania in the village of Miririni, where girls are extremely underserved in the educational system.

And, finally, in November we'll be returning to the community of Basa, Nepal, where we completed an earthbag secondary school in 2012, to build additional classrooms and a female-sensitive toilet system in order to increase attendance among girls at the school.

We're seeking both financial and volunteer support for all of these projects! If you believe, as we do, that educating and empowering girls and women is the best way to fight global poverty we hope that you will get involved with Edge of Seven in 2013! Please email us with questions anytime at info@edgeofseven.org.
