Progress continues on the new dormitory we are building for girls pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Nepal! This fall, we made big strides in the first phase, and we are on track for the building to welcome it's first class of girls attending the local university in Salleri, the District Capital of the Solukhumbu District, in September 2015.
Girls like Kamala, who is currently in Grade 12 and endeavors to become a social worker so that she can help others in her home village. Kamala says, "If you can invest in it, education will become the greatest wealth of your life."
We anticipate our new dormitory will host 20 girls in its inaugural year, many of whom are graduating from Grade 12 at our existing dormitory next door.
Also ahead in 2015 are plans to support the construction of a new secondary school in the remote village of Tapting, as well as a new resource center for women in Nepal. We could not do this work without the contributions from supporters like you! Thank you for joining us in our mission to educate and empower girls, women, and rural communities across the globe.
