ENSURING ALL THE CHILDREN GO FOR SCHOOLING

Residential Study Complex which is being run by ASSIST at Piduguralla, Guntur District, Andhra Pradesh, South India has 200 children in the age group of 5-14 years studying from 1st standard to 7th standard. These all children belongs to Backward Class, Scheduled Class and Scheduled Tribe communities. Since all these children are from Below Poverty Line (BPL) category, their parents are not able to send their children to schools. Instead of sending them to schools, children are being to sent to lime industries as child labourers by their parents. Like wise, these children are supporting financially to their parents. ASSIST's field staff has generated awareness among the parents of these children regarding the importance of Education, ultimately, parents of these child labourers have been convinienced and agreed to send their children to Residential Study Complex which is being run by ASSIST. In this Residential Study Complex, children are not only being given education but also they are being provided school uniform, meals, teaching, learning material, playing material, books, pens etc. It is purely residential system and children are not allowed to go outside. Proper security measures are also been taken care at Residetial Study Complex. All infrastructure facilities have been provided in this Residential Study Complex. It is quite safe and secure. After completing 7th standard in this centre, children are mainstremed to near high schools and necessary follow-up being done after enrolling them in High schools as well. Al-togetther 200 children are studying at Residential Study Complex, Piduguralla which is being run by ASSIST. I am submitting this as additional information.
