Project Report | Sep 12, 2025
Disaster Resilience & Hope

By Catherine Sealys | President & Lead Women Support

In the face of rising demand and increasing climate threats, our community pantry is stretched beyond its limits. This project will expand our storage capacity, allowing us to buy additional food in bulk, stock essential supplies, and become a resilient hub of hope ready to respond instantly to both daily needs and large-scale disasters like hurricanes. Your support ensures no neighbor is forgotten in a time of crisis.

Our community faces a dual challenge, families struggling with food insecurity and the ever-present threat of hurricanes and climate disasters. Our current pantry, built thanks to previous generosity, can no longer store enough supplies to meet the daily demand, let alone prepare for a major emergency. When disaster strikes, families lose everything, and the need for food, clothing, and personal care items becomes critical. Without a larger, well-stocked pantry, our response is delayed, and vulnerable community members are left at risk.

Expanding our pantry is the solution to-:

  • Create more space to store nutritious food, clothing, and hygiene products.
  • Procure food and supplies wholesale, stretching every dollar further to help more people.
  • Pre-position emergency stocks so we can respond within hours of a disaster, not days.
  • Offer a reliable source of support for families facing hard times, ensuring they can get help with dignity, whether it's a bag of groceries or a full disaster relief kit.

This expansion is more than a building project; it's an investment in our community's long-term resilience. A larger pantry means we can consistently serve more families year-round. More importantly, it transforms our operation into a certified disaster-ready hub, ensuring that when the next hurricane or climate event hits, we are prepared to act immediately, providing stability and hope to families when they need it most. This safety net will protect thousands for years to come.

Every contribution brings us closer to a disaster-resilient community.
