Institutional Engagement and Launch of "Guardianas del Lekil Kuxlejal" in Bajucú
On September 7, 2026, young girls from San Juan Cancuc participated in the "Semillas para el Futuro" (Seeds for the Future) Consultation Forum in San Cristóbal de Las Casas. Organized in collaboration with the Executive Secretariat of SIPINNA Chiapas, UNICEF Mexico, the Executive Secretariat of SIPINNA San Cristóbal, and World Vision Mexico, the forum served as a participatory platform to actively listen to the opinions, needs, concerns, and proposals of children and adolescents. The insights shared by the participants will be incorporated into the drafting of the Chiapas State Program for the Protection of Children and Adolescents (PROESPINNA), directly contributing to public policies designed for their comprehensive protection and well-being.
Furthermore, during September, Ch’ieltik reached a major milestone by consolidating our partnership and institutional alignment with "Venustiano Carranza" Primary School, located in the Tojolabal community of Bajucú, within the municipality of Las Margaritas. On September 24, we formally presented our work plan for the second half of the year to the school’s faculty and leadership, sharing the objectives, methodology, and scope of our "Fortaleciendo Jóvenes" (Strengthening Youth) intervention model. This meeting marked a foundational turning point for officially launching our advocacy actions in this new location, establishing a framework of cooperation and trust with the educational community.
As a first concrete step, we issued a call for applications aimed at girls aged 10 to 12 to form the youth initiative "Guardianas del Lekil Kuxlejal" (Guardians of Good Living) a space designed to foster info-activism, community communication, leadership, and the defense of children's rights. With the call remaining open through September 30, we will begin close mentorship in the coming months to expand their training tools and leadership skills.
Expanding into a new community and sustaining this process requires continuous effort. Your support is vital to ensure our technical team's presence in the field, provide educational materials, and strengthen this safe space where young girls can thrive.
