We are pleased to share that our school is growing and remains open during the continuously unstable economic and political events occurring within and beyon the capitol.
Over the Summer, we ran an 11-week program four days a week that reached 280 children. Despite the ongoing crisis in Haiti—with more than 1,000 internally displaced families and the closure of over 3,000 schools in Port-au-Prince and throughout the Central Plateau region—we were able to create a safe, nurturing space for our students.
We are grateful for the partnerships we have with classrooms here in America - especially those of Cambridge High School. Each term, students sign up for peer to peer conversations and have demonstrated great effort in hosting fundraisers on our behalf. With the funds Cambridge High raised, they were able to give several students tuition sponsorships.
Our teachers, staff and students at HHP are looking forward to what’s next and have already begun preparing for our annual holiday talent show that takes place in December.
We are hopeful that we will reach our goal in certifying our teachers, providing them a stronger foundation, and in turn have the chance to be accredited as a school.
With warm hearts, we welcome all to our Happy Haitian family near and far. If you have any questions, partnership suggestions, or would like to volunteer, please email: hhe@handofhaiti.org
