1. Overview
We are delighted to share significant milestones achieved in the last 3 months. Thanks to your generous support, Tumaini has successfully transitioned into its new engineering and vocational training facility. This marks a major step toward providing a modern learning environment that will equip vulnerable youth, including street-connected youth and teen mothers, with practical skills for sustainable livelihoods.
2. Construction Progress
Although the building is not fully completed, students and staff have begun utilizing the new space, which provides improved classrooms, workshops, and learning environments that better support competency-based technical training.
3. Equipping the Workshops
Following the move, we have commenced purchasing and installing equipment, tools, and furniture required for the various workshops. This process will ensure that learners have access to industry-relevant equipment for practical, hands-on training.
4. Expansion of Training Programs
To respond to community needs and increase opportunities for young people, we have expanded our training capacity by establishing three additional workshops for:
These new programs complement our existing engineering and vocational courses and will enable us to serve more students with diverse career interests.
5. Institutional Upgrade
The completion and occupation of the new facility have resulted in a significant institutional milestone. Tumaini Innovation has officially been upgraded from a Vocational Training Centre (VTC) to a Technical and Vocational College (TVC). This recognition reflects our improved infrastructure, expanded training capacity, and commitment to delivering quality technical and vocational education.
6. Impact on Street-Connected Youth
These developments greatly strengthen our ability to provide high-quality technical education to vulnerable youth. The expanded facilities and new training programs will increase access to skills development, improve employability, and create more pathways for self-employment and entrepreneurship. The institutional upgrade also positions Tumaini to offer a broader range of accredited technical programs and serve more learners in the years ahead.
