Student Divisions Growing - 2019 ROLIC Prep Begins

By Christina Storm | Director

Several new queries have been received from students interested in launching official LWOB Student Divisions. Requests have now reached beyond UK, with students from Germany, Hong Kong and USA registering requests for application packages.

In the meantime existing student divisions have filed their Fresher Fair package/materials requests which were all shiped out to the various universities last week, just in time to greet the incoming students for the academic year 2018-2019.

LWOB staff met last week to discuss the 2019 Rule of Law Innovation Challenge (ROLIC), historically held at Kings College in London. This year's challenge is in the early formative stage, but will for the first time, challenge the student divisions to develop program deliverables aimed at countering terrorism in communities, particularly among youth in vulnerable regions.

The ROLIC event will likely launch in November with the event scheduled to take place in early spring 2019, again in London and we hope, again hosted by Kings College. Plans to conduct an event at a university to the north while subject of discussions in the early summer, did not come to fruition. The hope is that perhaps a second location that might expand the reach of the ROLIC event to include participation of more universities outside London and in Scotland will be in place for 2020.

LWOB's local staffer overseeing the Student Division enrollment has done an excellent job this past year and we are immensely appreciative of his organizational skills, and diligence keeping in touch with the various divisions and their roster of officers.
