2022 SOUP Highlights

2022 has been a year of new beginnings and exciting developments.
  • We reopened our Nursery and Primary School in January after a 2-year closure across Uganda, the longest in the world. The hunger for education in the community resulted in our serving over 650 vulnerable children this year - a significant increase in enrollment compared with our numbers pre-COVID.
  • SOUP students spent one week at the National Scouting Camp on the shores of Lake Victoria and were visited by the President of Uganda!
  • The SOUP was selected as a pro bono client by the renowned architecture firm Perkins&Will to produce our first-ever master campus plan.  We are excited to infuse active learning into our campus design.
  • We purchased 21 adjacent acres of land which will allow us to enhance our School facilities.  We plan to construct improved teacher housing early in the new year.
  • The SOUP hosted over 200 primary teachers from across the region on campus in September to learn about our model Nursery and Primary School.
  • The SOUP is poised to develop a closer relationship with the Ugandan Ministry of Education and Sports as a partner in active learning.
  • Emma’s Baby SOUP provided life-saving support to more than 100 families with improved nutrition, health screenings, immunizations, psychosocial support, and economic empowerment.
