2022 SOUP Highlights

2022 has been a year of new beginnings and exciting developments.

We reopened our Nursery and Primary School in January after a 2-year closure across Uganda, the longest in the world. The hunger for education in the community resulted in our serving over 650 vulnerable children this year - a significant increase in enrollment compared with our numbers pre-COVID.
SOUP students spent one week at the National Scouting Camp on the shores of Lake Victoria and were visited by the President of Uganda!
The SOUP was selected as a pro bono client by the renowned architecture firm Perkins&Will to produce our first-ever master campus plan. We are excited to infuse active learning into our campus design.
We purchased 21 adjacent acres of land which will allow us to enhance our School facilities. We plan to construct improved teacher housing early in the new year.
The SOUP hosted over 200 primary teachers from across the region on campus in September to learn about our model Nursery and Primary School.
The SOUP is poised to develop a closer relationship with the Ugandan Ministry of Education and Sports as a partner in active learning.
Emma’s Baby SOUP provided life-saving support to more than 100 families with improved nutrition, health screenings, immunizations, psychosocial support, and economic empowerment.
