Project Report | Dec 23, 2021
Happy Holidays!

By Jill Kuhn | Director of Development

We are thrilled to announce that all of our primary seven students passed their final examinations, which makes them eligible to go on to secondary school next year! Their performance is especially meaningful given the challenges the global pandemic has posed, including long periods of lockdowns, remote learning, and home-based schooling. We are so proud of our students and can't wait to see what the new year brings them!

We are also excited to share that after 20 months of being closed due to COVID-19, The SOUP Nursery and Primary School will be reopening to all students in January 2022!  We look forward to providing students and teachers with the support they need to develop into outstanding educators and leaders as we move to the next chapter as a community.

 Additional SOUP highlights:

  • SOUP students continue to receive weekly home learning packets and visits from our teachers.
  • Students are staying active, thinking creatively, and strengthening their entrepreneurial spirit with extracurricular activities. Five students have established vegetable gardens, 15 students are learning to raise goats and chickens, and several others have begun to make local crafts.
  • All 17 of our senior Secondary Enrichment Program (SEP) scholars have passed their final exams and are able to advance to further studies, either at college or in a technical training program.
  • Two recent SOUP graduates are now studying to become teachers! They are enrolled at the teacher training college where we provide instruction on active learning. These proud SOUP graduates are also supporting our homeschool activities at The SOUP School.
  • The SOUP continues to distribute food packages and sanitary supplies to hundreds of families each month as part of its COVID-19 relief efforts, providing lifesaving support during this particularly challenging time.

We are so proud to see our students and student teachers grow and thrive in a changing environment.
