Warm Greetings Friends!
It is the choices one makes that separates him from being rich and poor. In many cases, the women in the communities are willing to learn a skill to earn an income and support their family. They are not aware of the choices they have or whom to approach or the about the cost. When they understand IDEA skill development programs, they are willing to give a try as these programs are for short-term and inexpensive. Our tailoring course is of high demand as one can easily start making money as soon as she completes the course.
Bhavana lives with her husband and 2 sons in Bhor. Her husband is a driver and they were managing well with his income. Her life was running smooth and steady. Though they couldn’t save anything after the daily expenses of the family, they could take care of their children’s needs and school fees. Problems started when the children completed schooling successfully and got admission in a college. The college fees were much more than they expected. Nevertheless, they wanted their children to study and complete graduation. Bhavana being unskilled couldn’t do anything to support her family financially. When she heard about IDEA’s vocational training program she enrolled herself to learn some skills to support her family. She completed art & craft course as well as tailoring course. This opportunity made a huge difference in their life. She earns Rs.5000 per month from by stitching clothes and by making micron objects. She is very confident and is proud of herself to support the education of her children. There many Bhavana’s around who just need a direction and little motivation, which will help them to make a difference in their life.
Story of Kala is also not different from that of Bhavana . Kala is living in a slum in Pune with her family consists of 7 members. Her husband is a mason, but supporting his family is a big burden on his shoulder. His loving wife decided to step in and help by doing some catering work for wedding parties. But this work is only available in seasons, so she was not able to earn regularly. Kala was looking for some alternative options when she heard of IDEA’s vocational training. She joined the 3-month tailoring course and after completion of this course, she has started earning minimum Rs.2000 per month. It is a big relief for the family as she doesn’t have to wait for a festival or a wedding to make some extra money to meet up the expenses of the family.
