Thank you so much for supporting our project. Under our project named ‘Engage & Empower girls & boys for Girl Effect-India’ we are conducting various skill development programs for giving girls and women another chance to earn their living in a decent way. Our skill development programs include
Swati is a twenty three year-old girl who has benefitted by this project. She belongs to a poor family in Pune which includes herself, her parents and three brothers. Her father is too old to work now, though he used to have a small shop before. Two of her brothers are married, so they have to take care of their own family responsibilities. Younger brother is working as a hospital ward-boy but his salary isn’t good enough to manage all the expenses.
Though Swati was good at studies, she had to discontinue her education after 10th because of financial problems. Though she wanted to work and earn she could not find any job without enough educational qualification.
She could not afford to join any good professional course in her area, but she managed to do a basic beautician course in a nearby beauty parlour. When she heard about IDEA’s advance beauty parlour course, she was very much interested to join, as with her basic knowledge she could not get a good pay.
After completing IDEA’s advance course in beauty parlour, Swati’s demand as a beautician increased. She has become very confident and she uses latest machines and techniques with ease. Since last 6 months, she has been using all her knowledge and advance skills in this field and making a good income to support herself and family.
In her own words “The advance course gave me a lot of confidence in this field. The experience I gained from this course was really helpful. Now I work with a beauty parlour and earn Rs. 7000 a month. If not with this course, I would never have been able to earn this much. I was just earning 3000 before. I am really happy to be self dependent and be able to support my family.” Her picture here, shows a confident young woman.
