Dear Friends,
Warm greetings from IDEA foundation!
I am sure you all are eager to hear from us about the project you are supporting. There are so many inspiring incidents which motivates us to continue going with our work, in this pandemic. I am excited to share an impressive story with you as these small stories are like a treat to all of us especially during this pandemic.
Samiksha aims high ….
Coming from a very poor family background with 3 siblings, Samiksha was just another child for us in the beginning. But soon we recognised that she has a lot of potential and leadership abilities. Through e-learning classes and spoken English lessons, she has improved her knowledge and gained self-confidence. Her hard work and determination are beyond comparison. When the pandemic began, IDEA arranged a laptop for her so that her studies are not affected. Her parents are of great support to her. Her father, who is an illiterate works as a farmer to support the family, attends all parent teacher meetings. Samiksha was elected as the youngest 'Upsarpach' ( Assistant village head ) for a village in Bhor block and her story was published in the newspaper as the youngest member of ‘Grampanchayat’ ( local body of village). Samiksha and her parents are thankful to IDEA foundation for the motivation and support they got through this project in their area.
Samiksha has a dream, a dream to represent her village for the development of her community. With that intention, she has appeared for the MPSC ( a state level competitive exam for selecting talented people for Govt services) preliminary exams and now she is preparing for the mains. She wants to become an IPS officer and has a strong will to serve her community. She has already started her journey and has become the voice of her people in the ‘Grampanchayat’ .The story of Samiksha is an inspiration to all of us to continue our work in these areas even in these difficult phases.
Samiksha is a real diamond, she was hidden in the limitations of marginalised living. But with the help of IDEA foundation’s out-reach programs, she could come out and spread her wings. There are so many girls like Samiksha living in these underprivileged communities who just need a little support and encouragement to complete their education and in turn they can help their families come out of the vicious cycle of poverty and exploitation. Please continue to support us so that we can reach out to more such people and implement our programs in many remote villages and poor urban locations.
Thank you for being with us throughout this pandemic!
