Dear Friends,
Greetings!
We gladly bring to you yet another report on the progress of our inspiring girls and young women. IDEA trains thousands of young school drop-out women in various trades like tailoring, beauty parlour, cooking & catering and hand-made products. After successful completion of basic and advance trainings, the women join our Entrepreneurial Development Programme (EDP) where they are motivated to start their own business. We also help them to sell their products at local exhibitions. Here are some of our recent activities conducted under this project -
EDP Training:
Entrepreneurial and Enterprise Development training is conducted for selected aspiring entrepreneurs. Inputs given on various topics like understanding enterprise; entrepreneurship, life skills for enterprise management, understanding Enterprise initiation process (market survey, legalities, business planning finance management, costing; pricing), Inventory & business records.
An external resource person with more than 30 yrs of experience in this field conducted the training. Additionally, He conducted a very useful & interactive session on market survey & Identification of Opportunity. Similarly a session on Legalities & business plan and another on quality management was much appreciated by the students. The speciality of this training is that the content & language is easily understandable by even the under educated participants. With practical examples, exercises, games, the sessions are made interactive & participatory.
Experience Sharing:
This time 2 special elements were added in the training, one was - Experience sharing by one of our successful individual entrepreneurs, Ms. Sumati that inspired the participants who applauded Sumati’s journey from “struggle to success”.
Second - on the last day of the training family members of the EDP participants were invited to the sessions. The Senior Coordinator & Enterprise counsellor conducted a short meeting with them regarding the role & importance of support of family members to the participants.
Exhibition & Sale of products:
To motivate the women even further and to give them an opportunity for some real learning, we facilitated their participation at Exhibitions at various companies. Jute bag jute folders, Porcelain clay items like book mark, Fridge magnets, Wall hangings, Silk jewellery etc. were sold by the women at these events where they learnt first-hand how to deal with customers, handling online payments and product packaging
Awareness session:
We also conducted a Health awareness session in association with a local hospital for 80 underprivileged women. The focus was on - importance of awareness regarding Breast cancer, Anaemia and Diabetes. After the information sharing, the hospital staff answered all queries. These session was hugely helpful in reducing the neglect women direct towards their own health and an attempt to teach the women to read symptoms and ask for medical help.
Friends, thank you for your support, there is so much more we can jointly achieve. Please continue to DONATE to this project!
