Dear Friends,
Greetings from IDEA!
Friends, with your support we have been running skill development courses for women since 2010. Underprivileged and marginalized women who are relegated to doing menial labour or other low paying jobs find it difficult to come out of the vicious circle of poverty and lack of opportunities for gainful employment.
Our various courses in Tailoring, Beauty care and Cooking impart the necessary skills which enhance their employability. They additionally benefit from life skill sessions on time management, Govt. schemes and importance of effective comunication.
They learn through exposure visits to successful enterprises run by women which motivates them to join IDEA's Entrepreneurial Development Programme through which they learn business skills and financial managememnt.
Our efforts are bearning sweet fruits and it is so wonderful to see that underprivileged girls and young women from our various skilling courses have fought all odds, overcoming adversities, breaking the vicious cycle of poverty, they are building their lives, full of new hopes and with a positive outlook. We are happy to share 2 success stories with you –
SARITA
Sarita, a school drop-out was married off very early. She had lost confidence in herself due to lack of education. Her husband persuaded her to join IDEA’s tailoring course. She started taking more interest and enrolled for the EDP sessions where she truly began to push her limits.
She developed a love for new learning which helped her fulfill her desire to learn and evolve. After EDP, Sarita became a tailoring instructor and has also started her own tailoring enterprise with other women from her Self Help Group (SHG). Today Sarita is so happy as she starts her new journey!
MANDA
Manda says “I have worked as a maid for a long time and never liked doing that work but what can an illiterate woman do? It was only when I joined IDEA’s tailoring course that I realized I have talent which can take me ahead in life. The social workers encouraged and motivated me.
After completing EDP, I joined IDEA as a Tailoring instructor and also started an enterprise with 3 other women. We stitch men’s clothes, some people ask me how a woman can stitch men’s clothes and I say that a woman can do anything! I thank IDEA for changing my life around”
Friends, please donate to this project and continue supporting these women so that they may bring their dreams into reality!
