Hello Friend,
We are reaching out to express our immense gratitude for your contributions to Jake’s Network of Hope’s project, "End Period Poverty and Give Girls Hope." Your support makes a direct impact on the lives of women and girls, ensuring those in need have access to essential feminine care products, which breaks down barriers to education and employment and promotes bright futures.
In 2023, over 11% of Americans were at or below the federal poverty level, making access to basic care essentials more critical than ever. Period products are a basic need item that often gets overlooked when it comes to supporting those dealing with poverty. Although 1 in 4 women struggled to afford period products in the past year, these items are not provided through government assistance programs like WIC or SNAP.
This is what makes your support of our efforts so crucial. Your generosity funds our On the Dot program, which provides period products to thousands of women and girls in our community each year. The last thing a teenage girl needs to deal with during the school day is worrying about access to essential items, which is why we supply local schools with tampons and pads in discreet cloth pencil bags so that girls can conceal the items while using products they need during school. This not only provides these girls with peace of mind but also helps drive their success, as those experiencing period poverty are more likely to miss class and fall behind in school. Meeting her basic need for period supplies can help restore her dignity and confidence as she pursues education.
As we move onward into 2025, we are committed to the fight against period poverty. We will be working closely with our partners to ensure that we have a comprehensive understanding of the needs of the individuals they serve so that we can be as strategic and impactful as possible when it comes to making a difference in the lives of women and girls.
Stay up to date with what's happening at Jake's NOH!
Thanks again,
Kate Gargo
