On the Road to UNGA
Week

m2m Mentor Mother and Spokeswoman Khanyisile Mavimbela left her home in a rural village in Swaziland in mid-September and set out on a ten-day journey across the United States. Her first stop was Dallas, Texas, where she met former First Lady Laura Bush (pictured above with Khanyisile and m2m Co-founder Robin Smalley) at the Global Women’s Network hosted by the Bush Center. She also spoke at several events at United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) week in New York. Spacer

Global Promises

Improving health and welfare around the globe was front and centre at the opening of the United Nations General Assembly in September. World leaders adopted 17 Global Goals for Sustainable Development (SDGs), a to-do list for the planet to end extreme poverty, fight inequality and injustice, and fix climate change. Find out how m2m is advancing these goals.

In support of the SDGs, UN Secretary Ban Ki-moon announced more than $25 billion in initial commitments to end preventable deaths of women, children and adolescents by 2030. Read m2m’s commitment.

m2m’s Community Mentor Mothers provide a vital link between communities and healthcare centres by reaching women at their homes and encouraging them to access medical care. We asked Community Mentor Mother Aisha Musana in Uganda to introduce us to her partner, Eseza, a Mentor Mother at the Malongo Health Centre III in East Central Uganda. See how, together, they provide women with a continuum of support.
