Dear Supporters, Family and Friends of Serendipity,
For years, our fight against malaria has taken us into the heart of rural communities—door to door, family by family. But our latest intervention took a unique turn as we pivoted to schools: we stepped through the gates of an all-boys secondary school, where young minds gather to build their futures.
Among the hundreds of energetic students we met, one young man’s story stopped us in our tracks.
Meet Sa’idu ( Not Real Name)
At first glance, Sa’idu fits right in with his classmates in Junior Secondary Class 2 (JSS 2). But we dicovered during conversations with him that he was 23 years old.
Growing up in extreme poverty, formal education was a luxury his family simply could not afford. While childhood passed him by, Sa’idu never lost sight of his dream to learn. For years, he took on exhausting menial jobs—carrying loads, doing day labor, saving every single naira he earned—with one goal in mind: paying his own way into school.
At an age when many have given up, Sa’idu finally sits at a desk in a school. His drive is fierce, but his circumstances remain fragile. For an indigent student working to pay for his own education, a single bout of malaria isn't just an illness—it’s missed classes, spent savings, and a devastating threat to a dream hard-won.

Through your unwavering support, our team reached Sa’idu and his schoolmates with life-saving intervention:
When Sa’idu received his testing and preventive care, his relief was visible. Knowing that his health is protected means he can keep his focus where it belongs: on his textbooks and his future.
"I worked too hard to get into this classroom to let sickness take me out of it," he told our team with a gentle, proud smile.
