Project Report | May 22, 2026
Strengthening Frontlines

By Kritika Chopra | Administration & Fund Development Lead

Dear Friends,

As we moved through the early months of 2026, Aura Freedom continued advancing its mission to end human trafficking and gender-based violence (GBV) through this project focused on providing prevention-focused education and capacity building to key stakeholders. These last few months highlight the growing demand for frontline training, the deepening of community engagement, and the continued impact of survivor-centred, trauma- and violence-informed approaches across sectors.

Together, these efforts reaffirm a critical truth: preventing trafficking and exploitation requires equipping communities with knowledge, strengthening frontline responses by integrating prevention education and awareness, and addressing the systemic conditions that enable harm.

Building Knowledge & Capacity

This quarter, Aura Freedom trained over an additional 600 individuals through workshops, presentations, and awareness-building sessions across Ontario.

This included frontline workers from sectors such as social services, healthcare, education, and law enforcement, as well as community members such as parents and guardians, youth, and fellow survivors.

Across these sessions, participants engaged with:

  • The realities of human trafficking and sexual exploitation in Canada
  • Early identification and intervention strategies
  • Survivor-centred and trauma-informed response practices
  • The systemic drivers of trafficking, including gender inequality, racism, and economic vulnerability

For many, these sessions filled critical knowledge gaps:

“This information is super important and not often covered anywhere.”

Others shared the emotional and practical impact of the training:

“This was an eye-opening event full of evidence-based research and stats that affected our own service areas. Some of the information was disturbing and hit home for me. A big shout out to those individuals who support these individuals and thank you to the presenters for doing such a great job at facilitating the session.”

These reflections underscore the importance of accessible, evidence-based training that not only informs, but transforms how individuals and institutions respond to trafficking.

Capacity Building Through Educational Materials

In addition to training delivery, Aura Freedom continues to supplement education and awareness through the creation and distribution of educational materials, which deepen knowledge and bring forth key messages across sectors.

During this reporting period:

  • Almost 800 educational materials were distributed both online and in-person
  • Our digital platforms generated over 80,000 impressions, expanding the reach of critical information on human trafficking and GBV

These efforts ensure that prevention extends beyond formal training spaces, reaching broader communities with accurate, survivor-ce

ntred information.

Strengthening Partnerships & Sector Collaboration

Partnerships remain central to this work. This quarter, Aura Freedom continued collaborating with frontline agencies, schools, community organizations, and institutional partners to deliver tailored training and build long-term capacity.

Through these engagements, we are not only sharing knowledge - we are fostering coordinated, community-wide responses that are essential to preventing trafficking and supporting survivors effectively.

Looking Ahead

As we move further into 2026, Aura Freedom will continue expanding training delivery, deepening partnerships, and advancing advocacy efforts that challenge harmful systems and narratives.

The growing participation in our workshops reflects a clear and urgent need: communities are seeking the tools, knowledge, and frameworks to prevent trafficking before it happens.

Your support makes this possible.

Every training delivered, every resource shared, and every conversation sparked brings us closer to a future free from trafficking and violence.

Thank you for standing with us.

With gratitude and solidarity,
Aura Freedom International
