Last year, we successfully harvested three tonnes from our pilot tomato project. This year, we are confident that our harvest will be even bigger and better. We have made significant improvements to our project, including increasing the number of plants allocated per cooperative and expanding the number of cooperatives to six.
To ensure the success of our farmers, we have taken several measures. Firstly, we have provided bi-weekly extension services to support them. Additionally, we have installed fully functioning irrigation systems, ensuring that our farmers can continue to cultivate their crops regardless of the weather conditions. Furthermore, our farmers have undergone comprehensive soft skills training, equipping them with the necessary capabilities to succeed.
Despite our progress, we acknowledge that continuous improvement is crucial for our farmers to have a lasting impact. In fact, we have noticed that some cooperatives have had low crop productivity because their leaders cannot motivate their members or assign roles. Therefore, we are excited to announce that we will be organizing a leadership training workshop for all our cooperatives. This workshop aims to empower cooperative executives with the tools needed to enhance their leadership skills. We want them to learn how to become inspirational leaders, define responsibilities for each leader (vice-chairperson, vice-secretary, etc.), settle disagreements within the cooperative, etc. We strongly believe that visionary leaders can significantly motivate and increase the productivity of their counterparts.
None of these achievements would have been possible without the generous support of our donors. We express our deepest gratitude for your unwavering support in changing the lives of our farmers. Your contributions have made a remarkable difference, and we are eternally grateful.
