A NEW GENERATION REFUSING CHILD MARRIAGE

By Othieno Gerald | Project Leader

Dear Friends,

A powerful movement is growing in rural Uganda. Thanks to your support, a new generation of girls is finding the confidence, knowledge, and determination to reject child marriage and pursue education instead.

This reporting period, girls participating in our project continued to strengthen their leadership and life skills through mentorship activities. They learned about goal setting, decision-making, personal rights, and the importance of education in creating opportunities for the future.

Many participants openly discussed their dreams and aspirations, expressing a strong desire to complete school and build independent lives. Their determination reflects a growing shift in attitudes among young people and communities.

Parents and local leaders joined awareness sessions that highlighted the risks of child marriage and the long-term benefits of educating girls. These conversations encouraged greater support for girls' rights and educational opportunities.

Teachers reported positive changes in attendance, participation, and confidence among students involved in project activities. Girls are increasingly becoming advocates for themselves and for others facing similar challenges.

The most inspiring outcome is the growing belief among girls that they have the right to choose their own futures. They are challenging harmful norms and embracing opportunities that previous generations often lacked.

Thank you for helping nurture a generation that is choosing education, opportunity, and hope over child marriage.
