This year, our education initiative has continued to open doors for talented young people from the Omo Valley who would not be able to remain in school without outside support. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we now provide scholarships to more than two dozen students pursuing high school, university, and graduate-level training across Ethiopia. They represent several communities in the region and a wide range of academic fields, from public health and veterinary medicine to engineering, education, journalism, and the social sciences.
Many are the first in their families to progress beyond secondary school. Others are balancing rigorous coursework with family responsibilities, local leadership roles, or community service. Despite the challenges they face, their determination is remarkable. Several students recently completed competitive internships or research projects; others advanced to the final stages of their degrees; and one of our long-supported scholars finished medical school and entered clinical practice. Another earned admission to an international university after excelling in a national academic competition.
We cannot list individual names here, but the impact of this collective effort is clear. These students are building the skills that will shape the future of their communities—strengthening local health systems, expanding educational opportunities, and contributing to economic development in a region where such pathways are rare.
Our nonprofit relies entirely on donor support to maintain and expand these scholarships. Every contribution helps a student stay enrolled, complete a degree, and take the next step toward becoming a teacher, public health worker, veterinarian, engineer, or researcher. We are deeply grateful for your continued partnership and look forward to sharing more stories of progress in the months ahead.
