The recent general election marked an important milestone for ORG's Pathway to the Polls initiative. Thanks to your support, thousands of Bahamians—especially young people—were equipped with practical, non-partisan resources to better understand the voting process, evaluate issues critically, and participate confidently in democracy. Through voter education workshops, a Youth Voter Insight Tool, simulation booths, panel discussions, and partnerships with schools, youth organizations, and the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture, we helped make civic participation more accessible and engaging for the next generation.
While the election has passed, our work is far from over. One of the most important lessons from this election was that strengthening democracy requires more than encouraging people to vote every five years—it requires creating opportunities for citizens, particularly young people, to stay informed and involved between elections. Building on the momentum of Pathway to the Polls, ORG has expanded its civic education efforts by establishing a multidisciplinary Civic Education Committee, launching youth governance workshops with the United Nations Resident Coordinator's Office and the National Youth Assembly, and developing new educational programmes that help young Bahamians understand how government works, why public participation matters, and how they can help shape decisions affecting their communities.
We are also creating more opportunities for young people to engage in conversations about public policy, media literacy, accountability, and national development. Our goal is to help build a generation that is not only informed, but confident in asking questions, working collaboratively, and contributing to solutions throughout the year—not just on election day.
