Samania, our GHNI staff person in our Women’s Empowerment Center (WEC) has conducted a survey and held meetings with local women in Bamyan. This was in order to begin literacy, health, and midwifery lessons, of which the latter two were their favorites.
Meanwhile, the girls are coming in daily to the center to learn English and also practice lessons for Transformational Community Development (TCD). As the weather is cold these days, we try to provide heaters to make the center warm so that the English class students and women can comfortably sit and hold their meetings.
Raihana is one of the girls coming daily to the English class. She and her classmate were asking us to provide firewood for the room because it is getting colder these days. Raihana said, “If we have a warm place, we sit longer here and do more TCDs.”
