On 13 July 2026, women leaders from the Women Engage in their Community (WEC) project, together with the Prey Lang Community Network (PLCN) in Preah Vihear Province, organized a community tree planting activity under the theme "Life and the Planet for All." The event was held at the Thmada Waterfall Tree Nursery in Chey Sen District, Preah Vihear Province.
The activity aimed to restore forest cover, encourage greater community participation in protecting natural resources, and raise awareness of the importance of biodiversity and non-timber forest products for sustainable livelihoods. It also demonstrated the growing leadership of women in mobilizing community action for environmental conservation.
During the event, 39 participants, including 10 women, planted 400 indigenous tree seedlings, including Korkoh, Krangnoung (black Rosewood), Beng, Thnong, Teal, Koki, and other native species. Local authorities were invited to participate, although none were able to attend.
The activity was supported through collaboration with local partner organizations and community stakeholders, demonstrating the value of partnership in advancing community-led environmental conservation. It also reflects the WEC project's commitment to strengthening women as leaders in natural resource management and community development.
