Students prepare for senior 4

By Reginah Sanyu | Founder

The students on scholarship are currently taking exams to enter secondary four and complete lower secondary. They must complete one more level of two years before enrolling in university. The workload of secondary school can be challenging to balance because of prolonged travel distances, so we are fundraising for 33 students to be in boarding school during senior four. The students have been working hard in their spare time, saving money from their entrepreneurial endeavors to beat the low statics of secondary school completion.

According to the Global Partnership for Education statistics, only 1 in 3 students complete upper secondary school in many sub-Saharan African regions. With 33 students in our scholarship program and the continuous support of our community, we are working to change those statistics. During check-ins with students, they always ask whether they will go to senior 4, and we assure them that their primary focus should be their studies.

We are grateful that our first partnership was with Busoga High School, a school with good quality education. Most rural schools often need more fundamental infrastructure, teaching materials, and qualified teachers, contributing to lower learning outcomes and limited preparation for higher education or the job market. Our skilled teachers do everything possible to ensure students get a constant education.

Your support for our Education Fund campaign does more than change the statistics; it gives hope. Since their primary leaving exams, we have invested in these students; we hope to support them as long as they show up and do the work. That is the #doinglittlethingswithpassion way.
