Project Launch – July 2026
Project Overview
The Sustainable Farming for Kenyan Farmers project aims to strengthen food security and improve the livelihoods of smallholder farmers through climate-smart agriculture, sustainable farming practices, and increased access to agricultural knowledge and resources. The project focuses on helping farming communities become more resilient to climate change while increasing agricultural productivity and household income.
Progress During This Reporting Period
Since the project was launched on GlobalGiving, Saidika Organization has concentrated on the preparatory phase to ensure successful implementation. Key activities completed include:
Conducted consultations with community leaders and local farmers to identify priority agricultural needs.
Assessed challenges affecting crop production, including changing weather patterns, declining soil fertility, and limited access to quality farming inputs.
Began mobilizing farmer groups and strengthening community partnerships to support project implementation.
Developed an implementation plan for upcoming farmer training sessions and demonstration activities.
Key Achievements
Community needs assessment completed.
Local stakeholders engaged and supportive of the project.
Farmer groups identified for the first phase of implementation.
Project implementation plan finalized.
Challenges
Limited funding has delayed the start of field activities.
Many farmers continue to face the effects of unpredictable rainfall and rising production costs.
Additional resources are needed to provide quality seeds, farming tools, and training materials.
Next Steps
During the next reporting period, Saidika Organization plans to:
Launch climate-smart agriculture training for participating farmers.
Establish demonstration farms showcasing sustainable farming techniques.
Distribute quality seeds and other essential agricultural inputs.
Train farmers on soil conservation, water harvesting, compost production, and environmentally friendly farming practices.
Monitor project progress and document success stories from participating farmers.
How Donor Support Helps
Every donation received through GlobalGiving brings us closer to equipping Kenyan farmers with the skills and resources needed to improve food production, increase household incomes, and build resilience against climate change. Continued support will enable the project to reach more farming families and create lasting community impact.
Looking Ahead
The foundation for implementation has been established, and we are excited to begin delivering activities that will directly benefit farming households. We appreciate the continued partnership of our donors and supporters as we work together to promote sustainable agriculture and stronger rural communities across Kenya.
