Help 1000 rural women escape poverty by training and equipping them to grow and sell organic vegetables in Tororo District. This project provides seeds, tools, and agricultural training to help them generate sustainable income and improve food security in their communities.
In many rural areas of Tororo and Mukono, women face limited access to economic opportunities, land, and agricultural training. This has led to high poverty rates, food insecurity, and dependence on male-dominated income sources. Without skills or resources, these women are unable to break the cycle of poverty or provide better futures for their children. The women as the main farmers of food, need support to improve crop diversity and productivity.
This project will provide agricultural training in sustainable vegetable farming, Distribute seeds, tools, and organic inputs, Set up demo plots for hands-on learning, Train women in business skills and market access, Facilitate formation of women-led cooperatives to boost collective bargaining. By enabling women to grow and sell vegetables, they will earn income, feed their families, and gain independence.
The project will significantly improve the dietary diversity, nutrition, health and welfare of 1,000 rural and small-town families in Tororo and Mukono District become self-reliant, empower women become role models and community leaders and create a community-based agricultural groups that sustain beyond project life.
