Thanks to generous donors, the entire $45,000 match offered by our Board of Directors and several supporters has been activated! We are grateful to our Board and supporters for offering the match to help us save lives and build resilience in Nepal.
Ten days after the earthquake, Build Change deployed three engineers to Nepal to perform an initial survey of the earthquake-affected area in and around Kathmandu, with the goal of understanding why houses and schools collapsed and why they did not.
Read our forensic engineering report here.
Build Change’s team is currently transitioning from engineering assessment to technical assistance programs for rebuilding disaster-resistant houses and schools.
We are focused on preparing government, NGOs, local engineers, builders, homeowners, and community members for the upcoming rebuilding activities by developing technical resources for new construction and retrofit of houses and schools in Nepal. We are also planning to pilot the use of these resources to build the capacity of local and international partners, to empower them to rebuild disaster-resistant houses and schools.
Thank you again,
Build Change
