Project Report | Aug 26, 2015
Mayan women artisans @ fair trade market

By Silvana | Communication Leader

This year four of the groups of artisans, whom impacto empowers, participated on Masdedos Bazar, a fair trade market platform wich aims are the dissemination, exhibition and sale of handmade textile design which takes place locally in San Cristobal de las Casas, Chiapas, México.

Groups of artisan women from Aldama, San Juan Cancuc, Huixtán and Santiago El Pinar, municipalities on Los altos de Chiapas México, were invited by impacto to participate in the market on August 7,8 y 9.

Also during the event they attended at two conferences "Dialogue between designer, artisan and anthropologist", and "Adaptation of the Western pattern system into traditional techniques".

Impacto promotes the participation of groups of women @ platforms like Masdedos bazaar, cause we see their joining as a great oportunity to have direct contact with buyers, as well as other advanced projects, building bridges and allowing inspiration to develop their own creativity within their own handicraft.

Also their joining to this market, is very relevant because they can build the comunication and comercial strenghts, wich are necesary abilities to sell and get feedback directly from their consumers, empowering them to get confidence about their products, their skills and of course getting closer to the specific markets that understand the importance of their art, their skills and their cultural heritage.
