Afghanistan continues to face major energy challenges, with heavy reliance on imported electricity and fuel. For hospitals like FMIC, this makes it difficult to ensure consistent and affordable power for critical services.
Despite not yet receiving funding through GlobalGiving, FMIC has continued to make steady progress in its solar energy initiative using available resources.
Over the past few years, the hospital has:
These efforts are already helping to lower energy costs, improve reliability, and reduce environmental impact. Most importantly, the savings generated are being redirected to support patient care, especially for those who cannot afford treatment.
The project has not been without challenges. Procurement delays, technical constraints, and the broader operating environment in Afghanistan have all required flexibility and persistence. However, the commitment of FMIC’s team has ensured continued progress without disrupting patient services.
Looking ahead, FMIC aims to further expand its solar capacity to meet more of its energy needs through clean and sustainable sources.
We remain hopeful that with the support of partners, well-wishers, and those committed to environmental sustainability, this initiative can grow further—strengthening healthcare services while contributing to a cleaner and more resilient future for Afghanistan.
Thank you for your continued interest and support.
