Empowering 200 Girl Leaders in India

Dear Milaan Champions,

Girl Icon Rajeshwari from Hubbali, Karnataka is brining in a wave of change this summer in her community at Hubbali, Karnataka. 

Rajeshwari shares “My father is a farmer and my mother works as labour in farm. We have 5 members in our family. My parents are not well educated but my father is able to teach us basic subjects, he helps us in our homework too. His dream was to be educated but his situations did not allow him to be, now he wants to fulfill our dreams at any cost. We love our parents. Sometime i think about the situation at the time of my father, had he got a supportive environment he might have been at a good post and status”. So I want to provide education to every child and it’s their right. Being a Girl icon I will make sure compulsory education for everyone.

Rajeshwari has formed a peer group of 20 girls and is firecessly moving ahead to achieve her goal. Recently under her social action project she conducted a program and invited her village Gram Panchayat President as chief guest along with community members. Seeing her sheer determination and vision the Panchayat president announced and extended support to Rajeshwari from Panchayat to ensure every child especially girls are enrolled in schools and continue their education.
