As a new member of the GlobalGiving community, we want to send a heartfelt thank you to all of our donors during the GlobalGiving Accelerator Program. With your help, we were able to meet our goal of raising $5000 in 24 hours on December 11th, 2019. Our non-profit, Asociacion Civil Educacion International (ACEI) proudly helps to fund educational opportunities in Solola, Guatemala and with your help on the 11th, we were able to raise enough money to continue supporting our scholarship program for a few more months without a spending deficit! We thank you from the bottom of our heart and being able to tell the students and teachers at Panajachel Colegio Internacional (PCI; our flagship school) that we were able to achieve our goals that day, gave them all hope that our school will keep its doors open for another year.
PCI's 7th grade class is one of our biggest and many of them receive scholarships. On December 11th, the 7th graders and 8th graders were doing a day of service and science experiments at the lake and took time out of their day to say thank you to all our donors. Our students work hard every day at PCI to make a better future for themselves and they are incredibly grateful to have a whole network of people that believe in the work they are doing. The money that students receive in scholarships helps to pay for their school materials and the ability for us to take them off campus for experiential learning experiences.
As we enter into the second half of the school year at PCI, we still have a lot of work to do to accomplish our goals of helping students in Solola gain access to education passed 6th grade. The majority of our students are on financial scholarships and that takes a toll on our operating budgets from year to year; but we truly believe in the power of education and want to continue to support our scholarship students through any means possible.
We hope that our donor network will consider sharing our story and our mission with friends, family, and acquaintances who could potentially help us meet our goal of raising $25,000 USD before the end of PCI's school year in June 2020. Without these funds, we won't be able to continue to support the scholarship students and that is the last thing any of us want here at ACEI/PCI. This is our family and if you could help us keep it together, we will be forever grateful.
Thank you again to all our donors for making our dreams come true in December! We hope that you will continue to support our students and their families as we continue to build our educational program at PCI.
