Empowering 50 Student Athletes in the Philippines

Foundation University’s athletic pursuits are going full scale with its students winning awards in different competitions within the country.

Training equipment’s availability and the presence of climbing enthusiasts in the campus, who act as mentors, has triggered the interest and passion of students to venture into wall climbing and bouldering as a sport.

Recently, a student from the College of Industrial Engineering has won silver after competing with the country’s best athletes in the said sport.

While being supported by the University for his academic goals, he pursues the passion for climbing and thus, bringing pride for the institution who aims to promote and advocate the love for sports to young people of this generation.

The said student won in the Higher Learning Bouldering Competition held last May 20 to 21 in Cebu City, participated by several bouldering enthusiasts and athletes from all over the country.

For years, he has been training for the said endeavor in addition to being a member of the volleyball varsity team. He is set to train to compete against elite climbers from Luzon a few months from now.

Last year, he also clinched the top spot for two competitions namely: First Sports Climbing Competitionin Iloilo City last December and Habagat National Bouldering Competition held September in Cagayan de Oro City.

The University’s pursuit of excellence in the aspect of sports and wellness is shown through proper training and strong support afforded to budding athletes and sports enthusiasts.
