Foundation University is known for its dedication not only in playing football, an outdoor sport, but also teaching the young from the grassroots level to become enthusiasts of the sport.
The weather in the Philippines has two seasons only. The dry season starts in February while the wet season starts in June in time for school. The Institute of Youth Sports for Peace, the sporting arm of the university came up with an alternative to continue advocating this sport by introducing futsal - a football based game played on hardcourt which is rcognized by FIFA as a form of small-sided indoor football.
Just recently, Foundation University launched the D5 Futsal Festival (D5 derived from the university presidents name). It was held at the university gymnasium where the university's athletic scholars competed in friendly games with the scholars of other universities and schools in Dumaguete City and Negros Oriental.
Futsal teaches and improves the athletes decision making skills when playing the game while it improves health, agility, motor skills ability and coordination.
The Institute of Youth Sports for Peace continue to hold activities and events for the university athletic schiolars and participating in competitions and tournaments to hone their skills as well as for the purpose of obtaining qualtiy education.
