Empowering 50 Student Athletes in the Philippines

UniGames or University Games originated in Bacolod, a city on the other side of Negros Island in 1996.  This event was founded by Coach Roger Banzuela, then president of the Philippine Amateur Volleyball Association, and now the Director for Sports at Foundation University, which made volleyball the single sport for UniGames back then.  28 years after the UniGames was formed, most schools all over the country has joined the event held every year in different venues including Foundation University and with different sporting events like basketball, archery, football and others joining aside from volleyball.

The UniGames has become an avenue not only for competition but for former athletes, coaches. teammates to reunite and share experiences in their own field of sports.  It is good to note that the same dedication that they have shown in each of their fields has remained through the years.

Foundation University's thrust in sports through the Institute of Youth Sports for Peace (the athletic arm of the university) is to provide a scholarship to highly skilled athletes from the grassroots level,  train them to excel in their sport at the same time given the opportunity to be schooled and become professionals someday.  These atheletic scholars are given a chance to provide playing opportunities to prepare them for other competitions on the condition that they also give a fair amount of time for their studies.  These athletic scholars are also being prepared for the real game called ... LIFE.
