Empowering 50 Student Athletes in the Philippines

The athletic pursuits of Foundation University are going full scale with its students winning awards in different competitions within the country. With the provision of training equipment and the mentorship of climbing enthusiasts in the campus, this has triggered the interest and passion of students to venture into the sport events - wall climbing and bouldering.

Recently, a student from the School of Industrial Engineering and Technology was chosen among the country’s top athletes in the climbing sport as he is now admitted to the Team A of the National Climbing Pool under the Sport Climbing Association of the Philippines, Inc. Together with the rest of his team, he was able to compete for the Asian Cup Bouldering in Hong Kong last March 9 to 10.

For the past years, he has been training for the said sporting event and has won competitions for the last few years, participated by several climbing enthusiasts and athletes from all over the country, including the First Sports Climbing Competition in Iloilo City and Habagat National Bouldering Competition in Cagayan de Oro City.

Last year, the student athlete clinched the top spot for two competitions namely: First Sports Climbing Competition in Iloilo City last December and Habagat National Bouldering Competition held September in Cagayan de Oro City.

Foundation University’s pursuit towards excellence in the aspect of sports and wellness is shown through proper training and strong support afforded to budding athletes and sports enthusiasts who are now excelling in various competitions.
