Dear Friends,
Together, with your generous help, young mothers in Kenya are gaining the practical skills, confidence, and holistic support they need to break cycles of poverty and build safe, secure livelihoods for their families.
We are delighted to share that so far in 2026, we have supported 177 young mothers across our three Seed of Hope centres. As part of this, to date we have given out 577 monthly childcare vouchers, so they can focus on their studies, safe in the knowledge that their children are being looked after.
Pioneering early childhood care
For many young women, motherhood can bring social isolation, mental health challenges, and severe financial barriers that mean young mothers’ potential can be wasted.
To help address these challenges, our partner-NGO collaborated with Montessori For Kenya in April 2026 to deliver a pioneering five-day training workshop, the very first of its kind in Kenya!
Designed for mothers and caregivers working with children aged 0 to 3 years, the workshop taught essential early childhood care skills. The local experts in the Seed of Hope team were invited to take part by leading sessions on mental health and sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) for the young mothers.
This special collaboration saw five young mothers from Seed of Hope take part. These inspiring young women are now sharing what they have learned within their local communities, extending the impact far beyond the classroom!
Meet Emily
One of the participants was Emily, a young mother who has been studying Hairdressing & Beauty Therapy at our Nairobi centre this year. Reflecting on her experience at the workshop, Vivian shared:
“Montessori training helped me gain valuable knowledge on how to care for children aged 0 to 3 years. Looking back, I feel sad about some of the mistakes I made while raising my own child, but the experience has helped me grow and learn to do better.”
Emily’s journey shows how combining vocational skills with mental wellbeing and parenting knowledge empowers young mothers to heal, grow, and build brighter futures for themselves and their children.
Thank you for standing with young mothers in Kenya - we are so grateful for your support!
With love and gratitude,
Keely and the team
