Challenge

Higher education surveys conducted in Colombia have indicated that out of every 100 high school graduates, only 48 have access to higher education and 45% of those who enter, desert. Regarding postgraduate education only 6% of the total enrolment rates correspond to master's degrees and doctoral education, because the people don't have the economic resources to enrol. The benefit of having postgraduate social leaders increases the quality of live and improve the social-economic conditions.

Solution

The Foundation has agreements with national Universities to provide postgraduate scholarship for social leaders with limited economic resources, that are interested in critical areas for Colombia's development and leadership. Up to date, we have impacted 377 students who have positively transformed their personal, academic and working lives and have supported the development of their communities. More postgraduate students is a strategic tool to develop socio-economic policies of society.

Long-Term Impact

The project will educate, 30 young leaders with low economic resources in Colombian Universities with high quality standards. Therefore will impact the communities, improving their personal and professional skills, and generating higher quality of life, specially in those zones with lower income. With more postgraduate students we are building a strategic tool to develop socio-economic policies of society.
