Sarathi Development Foundation aims at supporting and facilitating children, adolescent girls, women and community in such a way that they are able to integrate their potential, wisdom and resources to command development process on their own. We facilitate by evolving and implementing strategies, approaches and platforms for participatory planning, social and behavior change communication, community ownership, capacity building and mainstreaming with public systems. In partnership with Global Giving UK, Sarathi is scaling porven strategies including Community resource centers to provide life skills to school drop outs and soically & economically disadnagatted adolscent girls espacilly in slum areas. Sarathi has established 5 community resource centers covering 25 slums and 1250 adolscent girls in age group of 10 to 19 years. Five councellrs , one at each of the CRCs have been trained and appointed to coduct 4 hours sessions on life skills in particiaptry way using proven curriculum containing reporductive health, nutrtion, hyiegne, family budgeting, marraige law, decsion making, communication, micro planning and self advoacy tools. Social and behaviour change communication on key behaviours like girls education, marraige after education and legal age, menstural hyiegne management,gender equality and equity , health , sanitation are integral part of this intervention. Integrated community level planning focus on development indiactors related to adolscent girls, their families and communties through five days particiaptpry excecise has been completed in three slums for self, collective andservice delivery actions for hoolistic development. . While expanding outreach, Sarathi is focusssing on community plateforms such as adolscent girls groups, women groups and community volunteers to build a base for empowerment, capacity building , converegcne and susttainability in long run.
