Earth Rangers will equip 1,500 high-school students in Montserrado, Margibi, and Nimba Counties to lead practical climate action. Through 30 school clubs, 60 teacher mentors, 15 nurseries, native-tree restoration, and community campaigns, young people will restore degraded land, strengthen biodiversity, and build lasting environmental stewardship.
Deforestation, land degradation, biodiversity loss, unmanaged urban growth, and climate shocks are weakening ecosystems and community resilience in Montserrado, Margibi, and Nimba Counties. Many secondary schools lack trained mentors, organized environmental clubs, nurseries, and safe practical opportunities for students to protect local landscapes. One-time planting efforts also underperform when site verification, maintenance, community ownership, and survival monitoring are weak.
Earth Rangers will establish 30 school-based Youth Climate Guardian Clubs; train 1,500 students and 60 teacher mentors; develop 15 school-community nurseries; produce 200,000 viable native seedlings; and plant 120,000 trees across 100 hectares of verified sites. Students will lead action plans and campaigns, while trained adults, landholders, communities, and technical actors support safeguards, site selection, maintenance, protection, and transparent survival monitoring.
By institutionalizing 30 clubs, building teacher capacity, maintaining community-linked nurseries, and assigning local caretakers, the project will create a durable platform for youth-led conservation beyond the grant. At least 1,500 young people will retain practical climate leadership skills, while restored sites and continued seedling production will strengthen biodiversity, landscape resilience, and locally owned environmental stewardship over time.
